Sekhukhune United have expressed a keen interest in securing Mamelodi Sundowns defender Katlego Mohamme on a permanent basis after his loan spell concludes at the end of the season, the Siya crew understands.
Having joined Babina Noko midway through this campaign, Mohamme's situation has prompted discussions between the two clubs regarding his future, and Soccer Laduma had previously reported that the player could leave.

Siya sources close to the negotiations have now indicated that Sekhukhune may be in active talks with the Brazilians to make Mohamme's move permanent. The defender's potential preference to stay at Sekhukhune, may play a crucial role in the ongoing discussions.
"They talked to Sundowns even before they got him on loan that they wanted him permanently because he is not playing at Sundowns while he is mostly part of the COSAFA squad for Bafana Bafana. That's why there was the buy out clause in the deal and that's the one Sekhukhune United want to use at this point," said the Siya source.
"If they agree on the fee then Sekhukhune will be given the first chance to sign him even if there is interest from other teams. He has quality and unfortunately he can't play at Sundowns and that's why Sekhukhune United want to keep him permanently.
"Apparently they have already tabled an offer to Sundowns and they are just waiting for their response. The technical team is convinced that he has just played three (PSL) games so far for Sekhukhune and (they believe) his future is good as he is only 26 years old now. They want to keep him," the source told Soccer Laduma.
Sekhukhune's technical team is reportedly convinced of Mohamme's potential and long term value to the squad, despite him having played only three games for the club so far. At 26, Mohamme represents a long-term defensive solution for Babina Noko, especially as they plan for the future beyond veterans Edwin Gyimah and Daniel Cardoso.
"They are planning for the future and that's why they want to keep him as he is still young compared to Gyimah and Cardoso. But it will all depend on Sundowns if they want him back at the team or if there are other offers from other DStv Premiership teams," said the second Siya source.
"He is a good defender. It's just unfortunate that at Sundowns he is competing against top class defenders as well. But if he can move to Sekhukhune it could be good for him," the source added.
Mohamme faces stiff competition at Sundowns, contending with the likes of Mosa Lebusa, Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala and Brian Onyango in central defence.
A permanent move to Sekhukhune could provide him with the opportunity to further develop his career and secure regular first-team football.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Sekhukhune United and Sundowns for comment, the former club had not responded by the time this story was published. Sundowns have decided not to comment on the article.
