In a moment of madness for Thamsanqa Gabuza last year, Steve Komphela offered some advice to the Orlando Pirates striker, but do you remember what he said?
During Pirates’ Absa Premiership clash against Black Leopards in August last year, Gabuza threw his jersey at his own supporters, rushing off to the change rooms and upon his return to the field, was red-carded.

The 31-year-old at the time was experiencing ongoing abuse from the Pirates’ fanbase, however, Komphela, who was the Kaizer Chiefs head coach at the time, offered the player advice.
“You know there’s nothing as nice as reading an opinion in a paper and this guy gives a different perspective. But there can never be an opinion that is deep‚ that is thorough‚ that is well thought out‚ on social media,” Komphela said at a post-match press conference in August last year.
“Sometimes it is people who unfortunately are faceless. Some of them are out there just to break you because they support another club. It’s not that they are genuine with their utterances. Which is what I said to Gabuza. I said‚ hey baba‚ you must put a positive filter.
“I said‚ ‘Have the same lens in your eyes and ears. See positive, and if you’ll feel positive you’ll act (positively). But if you go on and try and listen to everything that is negative that is said about you‚ it’s going to kill you, my man,” Komphela added.
