Milutin Sredojevic Explained Where Orlando Pirates Need To Improve

Orlando Pirates head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has explained where he thinks his side is lacking, this after their 1-1 draw to Baroka FC.

The Buccaneers hosted Wedson Nyirenda’s side at the Orlando Stadium in the Absa Premiership, where the Bucs had to come from behind to salvage a point, which kept them at second place on the league standings.

Speaking to the media, Coach Micho explained that Baroka had two approaches to the game, having successfully broken down their momentum and made it difficult for the Bucs to play their game.

“You cannot plan that totally against the run of play you will concede a goal. However, you need to respond to that, I believe that from all aspects, players on the field, us…” Micho told the media.

“I want to say that we really tried everything like in any match, it was not meant to be, and we need to find a formula.

“We shall do an introspect inside and find solutions, the solutions are simple, to dominate more, to play faster, to reach the areas for where we can endanger a goal.

“It is part of the game, you have two ways to defend with reinforce defence and then defend with delaying the time and killing our moment.

“We do not want to look to the blame as an excuse, we want out the mirror in front of ourselves to be much more mentally stronger; I think physically we are okay. Why we haven’t been tactically effective, I want to call it (not) effective (enough) towards the goal,” the Pirates head coach added.

The technical team should be consistent in their team selection and refrain from tempering too much with the winning combination of players who are already beginning to play as a team. A case in point is the players selection in the recent game between Pirates and Baroka where five changes were introduced and it was clearly just a group of 11 players who were not playing as a team hence the score line remained a 1 all draw. Winning teams like Mamelodi sundowns keep the same team with minor changes where necessary because these are fulltime professionals. Please Mr. Coach we appeal to you. We want to know the Orlando pirates team and not a group of players who represent Orlando pirates. We won triple with the same players. How do you expect to win with five new players?
