SuperSport United midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has discussed his future beyond this season and confirmed that he is still available for Bafana Bafana selection.

At 36 years old, many have been speculating over Letsholonyane’s next move beyond the expiry of his contract at SuperSport United in June, with Highlands Park having been touted as a possible destination, while a return to Kaizer Chiefs was also previously on the cards.

While refusing to give much away regarding his next destination, one thing the dreaded playmaker has assured, however, is that retirement is not yet on the cards.

“I wouldn’t say much now, because I want to finish up the current season and then during off-season, my manager and I will discuss and decide which route to take,” Yeye tells

“I still have one or two seasons left in me, it will depend on where I’m going and whether I like it or not. So, if it’s a good environment in the first season, there’ll definitely be a next season.

“But it will depend. I know definitely, I can push myself and play the next three seasons – easily! But, like I said, it’s dependent on where I go and how I feel in that space.”

Pressed to offer a hint, ‘Yeye’ assured he is still hungry to compete for honours rather than just biding his time on the side-lines while collecting a pay-check.

“I’m a competitive person, and I feel that I still have a lot to offer with regards to playing and also giving guidance to the young ones,” he explains.

“So, for me, I like competition and I like to compete [for honours], and I can still do that regardless of the age issue, which is the biggest in this country. I’m happy and we’ll see.”

Finally, having donned the national team colours on 54 occasions thus far, Letsholonyane also confirms he has not yet closed the door on his Bafana chapter.

“Yeah, I haven’t said anything that I’m retiring or not, so I’m still available for Bafana.I think everyone loves representing his country, or rather, I’d like to believe that every footballer would take the opportunity to represent his country.

“So, for me, that’s the case. Any given opportunity to be on the field, whether it’s for my club or my country, I’m happy.”
