Orlando Pirates release Yusuf Maart and Siphumelele Mbulu

KickOff.com has learnt that more Orlando Pirates youth development products have followed Augustine Mahlonoko through the club’s exit door.

Yusuf Maart and Siphumelele Mbulu have both left Pirates after spending the past season with the club’s feeder team Pele Pele FC, which campaigns in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

Maart, 25, and Mbulu, 21, both graduated to the senior team from the youth ranks but failed to cement their places in the squad in recent times.

The former, who was promoted in 2017 after captaining the reserve side in the Multichoice Diski Challenge, only managed two cameo appearances back in 2016/17 before going out on loan to GladAfrica Championship outfit Cape Umoya in 2018/19.

The latter made his debut against Free State Stars in May 2018 but was also sent out to Witbank Spurs for a season-long loan in 2018/19, failing to make another appearance for The Buccaneers.

The club are also believed to be finalising the release of defender Lehlohonolo Mtshali, according to a source close to the club.

“Yusuf and Siphumelele have been handed their clearances. Lehlohonolo Mtshali  is also set to follow soon,” a source tells this website.

In June last year, Pirates also released Reanetse Ramatlapeng, Katleho Molaba, Samuel Nkomo, Phumulani Masinga, Phila Mzila, Reanetse Ramatlapeng, Ricardo Lourenco, Riyaaz Nell, Tebogo Ngwenya, Rodi Sibanda, Lucky Mdingi and Zaahir Witbooi.
