Egyptian giants Al Ahly have broken their silence over the contract situation of head coach, Pitso Mosimane.

With the back-to-back CAF Champions League coach entering the last 12 months of his contract with the club, there was a lot of speculation stirred up over the coach’s future.

Reports from Egypt had suggested that Mosimane was the subject of a R74m approach from UAE-based outfit Al Wahda, although this was later refuted by the club President.

There were also subsequent reports stating that the Red Eagles was in fact lining up former Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira as the 57-year-old’s replacement.

But in a statement from the club’s official website, Al Ahly’s head of transfers Amr Tawfik confirmed that Mosimane will be with the club until the end of his two-year R54m contract with the club, which will not include a pay raise for Mosimane.

“Tawfik announced that Mosimane will continue his current contract with the club, which lasts until the end of the 2021/2022 season, without any pay raise.

Tawfik added that Mosimane did not ask for any increase in his salary and that the club wants him to stay because Al Ahly is convinced with his ability to fulfill the goals and expectations of Al Ahly fans.

Additionally, Mosimane expressed his happiness to work at Al Ahly and stated that he wants to continue his mission with the African Club of the Century.

Finally, Tawfik concluded by saying that the discussions went in a friendly way about the team's future and that both parties agreed on settling all the matters by the end of the current contract,” the statement read in part.

@LeCowhlohlo Tau's contract is longer than Pitso's & normally coaches bring players to teams & when they leave, the players remain to continue with the incoming coach.
