With the appointment of former Netherlands captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Scottish giants Rangers' new boss, here are nine 2010 FIFA World Cup stars who are now managers, including Xavi Hernandez and an ex-South Africa star! Ex-Dutch skipper Van Bronckhorst is famously remembered for his long-range strike against Uruguay in the World Cup semi-final at Cape Town Stadium. That strike was one of the contenders for the goal of the tournament award, but he was beaten to the prize by Diego Forlan for his acrobatic volley against Germany. Van Bronckhorst, a former left-back who also represented FC Barcelona and Arsenal during his playing career, was officially appointed to replace another 2010 World Cup star, Steven Gerrard, at the helm of reigning Scottish champions Rangers on Thursday. Now in the hot seat of his boyhood club, the Spaniard is set to take charge of his first match as Blaugrana boss when they take on Espanyol in a LaLiga tie on Saturday. A number of stars from England's 2010 World Cup squad have also gone on to become managers, including Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard, with the former being the current Derby County coach, while the latter held that same role in the 2018/19 season.
