Having been linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United prior to joining Juventus, former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey has revealed why he opted to join the Bianconeri amid reported interest from other high-profile teams.

Ramsey, 28, ended his 11-year affiliation with the Gunnners when he penned a four-year contract with Juventus in February 2019, which came into effect on 1 July 2019.

The Wales international, who was snapped up as a free agent by the Serie A giants, had his first press conference as a Juve player on Monday, during which he revealed his reason for joining the Italian club, despite having received other offers.

"Yes, there were other clubs, but this is the right club for me and I'm so excited to be here, and proud as well," he said, as per The Mirror.

"As soon as I knew Juve were in for me, there was no question about where I was going to go. You can't turn down that opportunity.

"I'm so excited to be here and hopefully I can be a part of a new history. There were other clubs, but this is the right club for me."

Ramsey also highlighted his desire to play under new Juve boss Maurizio Sarri, citing the success the former Chelsea boss had in his maiden season in England's top flight.

"I know from this coach, from his time last year in England," he added.

"He definitely likes to play football and has his own philosophy, and I'm sure all the players here will adapt nicely to that.

"I think that, from what I saw last season, he had a very good season for Chelsea, he got to two finals and won one of them.

"He got in the top four and that is not easy to do so, it was definitely success for him there, but hopefully he can bring his philosophy and style to this team."

As per ESPN journalist Gabriele Marcotti, the Welshman is set to earn a staggering weekly wage of £400 000 (R6.9 million) in Turin.

Ramsey made 371 appearances for the Gunners, finding the back of the net on 65 occasions and registering 65 assists.
