The LaLiga giants have now taken their spending to over €300 million (R5 billion) following their announcement of their fifth new acquisition ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The arrival of Ferland Mendy from Olympique Lyon will excite the club's faithful supporters, who saw Marcelo have arguably his worst season in a Real shirt in 2018/19. The Brazilian was even left out of Brazil's 2019 Copa America side, and now faces stiff competition for his place.

With Mendy joining for about €50 million (R814 million), it is difficult to imagine manager Zinedine Zidane not using him straight away, alongside his trusted centre-back duo of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.

New signing Eder Militao might have to wait a while before becoming a first-team regular for the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners. New Brazilian winger Rodrygo might be in the same boat, with new Galactico Hazard undoubtedly the favourite to play on the left side of attack.

With Vinicius Junior's immediate future uncertain, Zidane might use Marco Asensio has his right-sided inside forward, who can cut in on his favoured left foot. Supplying the wingers could be the team's familiar central players, although Real are still being linked with a host of top midfielders.

The Highest-Paid Real Stars After Hazard Signing

Although Karim Benzema enjoyed a terrific 2018/19 campaign, Jovic has not joined Los Blancos to be deployed on the bench, especially considering the kind of striker he is. Zidane might look to reply on his new forward early on, with the 21-year-old having shown great pedigree in the box.
