The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) claim the doping fears revealed by Pep Guardiola over star winger Riyad Mahrez is not their problem. Guardiola stated this weekend that Mahrez missed out on the FA Community Shield victory over Liverpool over fears of failing the doping tests due to medication he took while on international duty. The 2019 AFCON winning captain was said to have taken an 'uknown' sustance due to an illness and the Spaniard confirmed they didn't want to risk the chance of fiedling the Algerian. "We don't have what he took. That's why, for doping control, today was a risk because the doctors didn't have it," the Spaniard said, as per BBC Football. Concerns were immediatly raised over what the two-time Premier League winner consumed while away from the Etihad but FAF have distanced themselves from any wrongdoing. "This is a non-event from the moment the player took the medications after the Africa Cup of Nations," FAF said in an official statement after questions were raised about the Les Verts captain. "It is a problem for Manchester City." Mahrez scored 12 goals and registered as many assists in 44 games in his debut 2018/19 season for the Citizens.
