Four-time African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto'o has explained why Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have no chance of winning the Ballon d'Or.
Eto'o, 38, recently announced his retirement after a legendary career in Europe in which he lifted 15 major titles with Mallorca, FC Barcelona and Internazionale.

Despite his glittering career, Cameroon's record goalscorer never finished on the podium for the Ballon d'Or once.
While Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have dominated with five awards each and still remain favourites for the prize - Eto'o feels the UEFA Champions League success of Salah and Mane should stand for something.
"We are only good to denigrate our own brothers. We are not respected," Eto'o told RFI.
"It’s a fact. I hope I’m wrong, but the next Ballon d’Or will be neither Mane nor Salah.
“There is no explanation that Mane, Salah or Aubameyang, the top three scorers of the Premier League last season may not even be among the top five.
“Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are both very strong, but this season who won the Champions League? It’s Mane and Salah.” |
