Daniel Akpeyi: Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper dropped from Nigeria squad to face Brazil

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has been left out in the cold for Nigeria, as head coach Gernot Rohr named his latest squad to face Brazil.

Akpeyi, 33, was the Super Eagles number one at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, in which they finished in third-place in Egypt.

However, after being omitted from their youthful sqaud that drew with Ukraine this month, his latest snub could signal the end of his international career.

Having been dropped from the Chiefs squad this week, the veteran stopper is facing competition from European based 20-year-old duo Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye and Heartland's Ikechukwa Ezenwa.

There's also a debut call-up for Slavia Prague striker Peter Olayinka, who recently scored in the UEFA Champions League against Internazionale at the San Siro.

Rohr's side will face the Copa America champions at the Singapore National Stadium on 13 October.
