Real Madrid are believed to be desperate to get rid of club-record signing Gareth Bale, but recent reported developments in the Los Blancos camp indicate that this may prove an increasingly difficult task.

The four-time UEFA Champions League winner's future with the Spanish giants appears to be non-existent, with the former Tottenham Hotspur superstar reportedly not being part of coach Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the 2019/2020 campaign.

According to AS, the 29-year-old is said to have initially relayed his desire to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu to Real's board through his agent, Jonathan Barnett.

It has been claimed the former Premier League star subsequently requested a meeting with the club prior to heading away for national team duty with Wales, and informed them of his decision to stay put.

Such is Bale's determination to stay with Zidane's outfit that the Welshman has reportedly told the club not to entertain offers from other teams for his services, with the winger citing his family's happiness in Madrid as the reason.

As per AS, the Welshman is aware of the complication of him wanting to stay given his huge wages, while the arrivals of Luka Jovic, Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes will see the left-footed star slip further down the pecking order.

It is believed that should Bale remain at the club, the former Spurs man will have a "secondary role" in Zidane's squad.

Since joining Real from Spurs in a €101 million (R1.7 billion) deal in 2013, Bale has amassed a total of 231 games for the LaLiga, scoring 102 goals and registering 64 assists.
