Los Blancos have a rich history of dipping into England's top flight for signings, with Belgian superstar Hazard ranking as the Spanish giants' 25th signing from the Premier League since 2000, according to Planet Football.
While there might have been a few notable flop buys over the years in the likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Nicolas Anelka, Thomas Gravesen and Mahamadou Diarra, should the four-time Blues Player of the Season replicate the form that made him a household name in England during his seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge, his record-breaking departure from Chelsea would undoubtedly see him being ranked among Real's best acquisitions from England.
FourFourTwo recently compiled a ranking of Real's best signings from the Premier League, and at the summit is the club's record goalscorer Ronaldo, who joined the LaLiga outfit from Manchester United in 2009 for a then world-record transfer fee of €94 million (R1.58 billion). The Portuguese superstar proved a success during his stint in Madrid, scoring an unprecedented 450 goals while helping the club claim four UEFA Champions League titles.
Second to Ronaldo on the ranking is 2019 Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric. The six-time Croatian Footballer of the Year joined Los Blancos from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, in a deal worth £30 million (R563 million). He initially struggled in his first year at the club, so much so that he was voted as the worst signing of the year by readers of well-known Spanish publication Marca.
The former Spurs midfielder has since cemented his position in Real's starting XI, though, making more than 300 appearances for the club.
Spanish legend Xabi Alonso occupies third spot on the ranking, following his trophy-laden five-year spell with Real. The 2010 FIFA World Cup winner was signed from Liverpool for £30 million (R563 million) in 2009, and went on to win two Copa del Rey titles, a LaLiga title, a Spanish Super Cup and a UCL title to cap off a successful stay with the LaLiga outfit.
Others stars on FourFourTwo's list of Los Blancos' greatest EPL buys include David Beckham, Arjen Robben and a former Arsenal star who recently passed away in a car accident – click through the gallery above to see Real's best buys from England's top flight!
