A Premier League star has officially been given permission to switch his allegiance from France to Ivory Coast.
Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Willy Boly represented Les Bleus at youth level, but has now been cleared to play for the Elephants.
In 2019, the defender opted to spend time with his family rather than accept a call-up to Ivory Coast, and was also named in Patrice Beaumelle's squad last month, but did not join up with the team.
Boly, however, is now edging closer to making his senior debut on the international stage with the African nation.
"The request of the FIF relating to the change of association of the player Willy Boly is accepted," Emilio Garcia Silvero of the FIFA Player Status Committee wrote, according to Sport-Ivoire.
"The player, Willy-Arnaud Boly, is authorised to represent the representative teams of the Ivorian Football Federation with immediate effect."
