After Arsene Wenger revealed this week that he missed out on signing record-breaking teenager Jadon Sancho for Arsenal, here is a full starting XI of superstars, including two Ballon d'Or winners, who all snubbed the Frenchman's advances at the London club.

Wenger put an end to his 22-year stay with the Gunners when he announced that he would step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Despite having revolutionised the club in a number of ways, the Frenchman often came under scrutiny for missing out on some high-profile players during his tenure as coach.
Wenger recently admitted that he attempted to lure winger Sancho to the Gunners from Manchester City's academy in 2017 prior to his move to Borussia Dortmund in the German top flight, where he has been making headlines ever since.
"I wanted to take him from Man City when he didn't get the games," Wenger said during beIN SPORTS' coverage of the UEFA Champions League this week.
"I tried to lure him because he's from London. I tried to get him to Arsenal. He's one of the best players of his generation. He can dribble, he has the arrogance.
"There's something in there that is part of the big players. You can call it arrogance, confidence, belief; but it has to be there."
Sancho, however, is not the first star Wenger missed out on during his stay with Arsenal, as the following XI proves.
Gianluigi Buffon features in goal after the former Monaco boss had dinner with him in 1998 and was again after him in 2001, while Raphael Varane is also said to be among the players the ex-Gunners manager failed to lure to the club, as is Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and FC Barcelona's veteran defender Gerard Pique.
In 2014, the French boss said Arsenal tried to sign Paul Pogba before he opted to join Juventus, while he also revealed that he attempted to lure N'Golo Kante to Arsenal when he was still in France and again when he was at Leicester City.
Wenger also admitted that failing to sign Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in 2003 before he joined Manchester United was his biggest regret, and also tried to convince Barca's Lionel Messi to join the Gunners that same year.
The two strikers in the XI are Luis Suarez and Kylian Mbappe. The latter admitted he held talks with Wenger before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, while Suarez reportedly rejected the club two seasons before signing for Barca in 2014, when Arsenal bid £1 (R18) over his £40 million (R729 million) release clause in his contract with Liverpool.
