Wednesday night's first-leg quarter-final encounter at Old Trafford promises to be an intense affair, and while those taking part will be under immense pressure to succeed for their respective sides, there are some players who have felt that expectation from both sets of fans.

The first player to have played for both clubs was Welsh legend Mark Hughes, who joined the Catalan club in 1986 from United. The attacking midfielder spent three years on the books of the Spanish giants before returning to the Red Devils in 1989.

Another who has worn the colours of both clubs is Gerard Pique, who, similarly to Hughes, went back to the club he joined the other one from. The Spaniard, now 32, signed for the English club in 2004 from Barca's U19 team.

The centre-back represented the Red Devils on 28 occasions during his spell in England, where he won the FA Community Shield as well as the Premier League and Champions League titles. Pique rejoined the Catalans in 2008, a club he has now played 488 times for and won many trophies with.

A name that many might find surprising to see on the list is that of Jordi Cruyff, son of late football revolutionary Johan Cruyff. The Dutchman failed to make an impact at the Spanish club after coming through its ranks to break into the senior team in 1994, and later joined the Red Devils for a small fee.
