The new national stadium, also known as the Stade Olympique d'Ebimpe, was inaugurated over the weekend, with 50 000 people attending the ceremony ahead of the match between ASEC Mimosas and Africa Sports.

President Alassane Ouattara also attended the celebrations, and was driven round the track in his limo to greet the cheering crowd.

The stadium will be renamed after Outtara, according to stadiumdb. It can host 60 000 fans and cost about $257 million (R4.2 billion).

It boasts an dynamic facade, being entirely surrounded by 96 columns, creating an "Arc de Triomphe" appearance.

Stained glass in the national colours and an impressive roof complete the look.

The stadium will be used for the 2023 AFCON, which is set to be hosted by Ivory Coast, with reports stating this stadium will be the venue for the tournament's final.

I don't like stadiums with race tracks. For such a big stadium if don't plan to host Olympics then it's a waste. Make it football specific.
