Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Siphiwe Tshabalala, believes that his team’s participation in the Sparta Macufe Cup will help them to maintain their momentum that’s been picked up after a three-match winning streak.

With Kaizer Chiefs taking a prolonged break from action during the FIFA break, Tshabalala says it's good that they will play in the Sparta Macufe Cup because it will keep them active.

"At this time we have to remain active after the three wins in the league so that we keep the momentum going. It's good that we will be playing in the Macufe Cup because it will keep us active,” he told journalists.

Tshabalala reiterated his point by saying that, for the players that will not be joining up with their national teams over the break, it will present an opportunity for them to stay match fit.

“We know some players will be with the national team but those who are available will use this match to remain active which is good," the former Bafana Bafana midfielder concluded.

The former Bafana Bafana player went on to say that the former Maritzburg United coach appears to have lost control over his team and that he hasn’t inspired them to play at a standard appropriate to the Soweto giants’ expectations. “From my point of view, you can say that Steve hasn’t got control of the situation,” he continued. “I think maybe there’s more to it, or that he can only identify the problem. “But you can see it clearly when the team goes out that there’s no spirit, there’s no proper direction in terms of their wing-backs trying to create with crosses or any of that.”
