Former Free State Stars coach, Luc Eymael, has responded to a fellow coach, who appeared to be criticising him and his work.
On realising that he was facing a daunting task in trying to save Ea Lla Koto from relegation, Serbian coach Nikola Kavazovic – Eymael’s successor at the Bethlehem outfit – made some shocking comments in the media about a fellow colleague.
Kavazovic said he inherited a ‘dirty, rubbish side which was left by the former coach’ in referring to the Nedbank Cup-winning coach from Belgium.
Eymael, who is now in charge of Tala'ea El Gaish SC in the Egyptian Premier League, has responded to Kavazovic – the man who was at the helm when Ea Lla Koto went down to the second tier of Mzansi’s football.
“What happened with the coach…you know that he has been fired from Free State Stars. I responded already and I will not respond again. He was talking, no problem. I will say, at the end of the day only work can talk and we saw what happened (with Stars’ relegation),” Eymael told the Siya crew.
“The problem sometimes in life, I don’t know how to translate it in English, but in French we say, ‘Dans la vie, souvent on voit le brin de paille dans l œil de son voisin, mais on ne voit pas l arbre qui est dans notre œil.’ Okay, so, it means in life, we often see the strand of straw that is in the eye of a neighbour, but we don’t see the big branch of the tree that is in our personal eye. I hope you understand,” added the coach.
“Everybody saw what happened (under Kavazovic), everybody saw what we did last season. Let’s see what the plan of God is. People can talk, people can complain and people can do a lot of things and it’s all about the plan of God. We don’t know what the plan of God is,” he said.
Contacted for comment, Kavazovic was only prepared to say, “Busy, sorry, goodbye,” before hanging up.
As revealed by the Siya crew, Kavazovic has been relieved of his duties at the Free State outfit.
Kavazovic led Stars to three wins, five draws and nine losses as the team went on to finish at the bottom of the log and was since relegated to the National First Division.
The team was in ninth place on the standings after 14 matches when Kavazovic replaced Eymael, with the Belgian mentor having registered three wins, four draws and seven losses at the time.
Which PSL club should Kavazovic join after his Ea Lla Koto exit?
