Maritzburg United confirmed the signing of Gabriel Nyoni earlier this week as they brought the attacker on board from CAPS United in Zimbabwe after he impressed during a training spell in pre-season.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder will now be looking to hit the ground running after securing a move to the South African top-flight as he looks to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Cuthbert Malajila and Evans Rusike by being a success with the Team of Choice.

Farook Kadodia, the club’s chairman, is excited about the player’s arrival, telling their official website, “Coach Eric Tinkler was very impressed with what he saw from Gabriel and we believe the player will be a very good addition to our squad for next season… He has penned a three-year deal and we would like to welcome him to our club and to the City of Pietermaritzburg.”

Kadodia went on to explain why they were so excited about Nyoni’s arrival, praising him as a person when he said, “A player’s character is also very important when considering a new signing, and apart from his soccer talents, Gabriel is a well-rounded individual with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Marketing, as well as a motivational speaker and a writer.”

Gabriel will now be counting down the days until he can get his Team of Choice debut.
