In anticipation of this week’s 1114th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13th.
George Lebese feature
When George Lebese opted to sign for his boyhood club, Mamelodi Sundowns, the team’s faithful were eager to see one of their own return to his roots and reignite the connection between Mamelodi and that of the brand that had chosen to make Loftus Versfeld Stadium their home turf. One-and-a-half-years down the line, things have not gone according to script for the 30-year-old. What really contributed to Lebese’s failure to secure a regular starting berth at Sundowns? Now on loan at SuperSport United, how does he work his way back into Mosimane’s plans? Soccer Laduma’s Celine Abrahams unravels the case of a player who has had a fairly average career despite the early promise of stardom.
Steve Komphela feature
Nearly 11 months after Kaizer Chiefs and Steve Komphela severed ties, the well-spoken coach has been doing a fine job of rebuilding his reputation at Golden Arrows. Less than a year after his departure, the Soweto giants have already appointed and fired Giovanni Solinas and brought in Ernst Middendorp. Many esteemed coaches have praised Komphela in recent months, and considering the fine job he has done away from the club, it begs the question of whether he was set up to fail at Naturena. Soccer Laduma investigates.
Orlando Pirates feature
A 2-2 draw in their penultimate CAF Champions League group stages encounter against FC Platinum last weekend has placed Orlando Pirates in a spot of bother. Their campaign in the inter-club competition hangs in the balance as they find themselves third in Group B. This weekend, the Buccaneers will be hoping to right their wrongs when they travel to Stade du 28 Septembre in Guinea in the hope of bagging three points to progress to the knockout stage against Horoya. Soccer Laduma’s Celine Abrahams previews this vital encounter, with the help of two club legends and a supporter.

Sinethemba Jantjie interview
Sinethemba Jantjie will be donning the colours of Bidvest Wits next season after penning a pre-contract with the club following much speculation about his future. At one stage he looked to be on his way to Kaizer Chiefs, but Free State Stars have managed to hold on to their prized asset. But, truth be told, for a player of his calibre, and looking at his age, a move to bigger things was always beckoning for the winger. In this interview with Soccer Laduma’s Beaver Nazo, talks about why he couldn’t turn Wits down and makes a pledge to his current club.
Lucky Khune interview
Two brothers playing for the same team at any of the Big Three teams in South Africa is a rare occurrence. Remember Lucky Khune, the younger brother to the more illustrious Itumeleng Khune, who announced his arrival in the big time with a goal against Orlando Pirates? His spell didn’t last long, but for a moment, consider what a beautiful story it would have been – one brother keeping the team in the game with his spectacular saves and on the other end of the pitch one scoring winning goals. But life and football don’t work that way. The younger Khune is now with Baberwa FC, having played for several teams since leaving Chiefs. Soccer Laduma’s Beaver Nazo chatted to him about his journey.
Andrej Kramaric interview
Hoffenheim forward Andrej Kramaric is currently closing in on his club’s all-time record goalscorer and, in this exclusive interview, he told Soccer Laduma’s David Kappel why Croatia were so strong at the World Cup, what makes Hoffenheim’s Julian Nagelsmann such a special coach at the age of 31 and why he does not regret leaving Leicester City during the season they won their historic Premier League title.
Soccer Laduma’s Peter Raath chatted to Jomo Cosmos defender, Sifiso Nkosi about being scouted by Neil Tovey and how Jomo Sono believes in his qualities.
This week, we hear from former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Roger Feutmba on Downs qualifying for the quarter-finals for the CAF Champions League and on how Pitso Mosimane manages the squad.
Our beloved Siya crew is back this week to let you know what is happening at your favourite clubs. It has been reported that Orlando Pirates could be looking to pounce on a Kaizer Chiefs skilful player, while there have been talks of another midfielder looking to negotiate his release from the Naturena-based side and a struggling Orlando Pirates defender has attracted interest from Black Leopards, as well as much, much more!
