Wandisile Letlabika has been threatened with suspension with no pay or face a fine at Bloemfontein Celtic.
News reaching the Siya crew is that the Mangaung club is irked after the defender allegedly failed to report for one of the training sessions this past week.
Siya sources close to Siwelele have revealed that the player has been unhappy that he allegedly received no refund from the club for his money he used to pay for his medical expenses for the knee injury he suffered, while playing for the team in their Telkom Knockout final against Bidvest Wits in December 2017.
It has been alleged that after he allegedly missed one of the training sessions this past week, the money was finally paid to the player after over a year of waiting, however, the money was followed by a letter from the club, according to sources.
Letlabika, 29, only returned to playing for Celtic in October last year, following his career-threatening injury. Since his return, the centre-back has made nine starts from the last 11 matches for Siwelele in their Absa Premiership campaign.
The Siya crew has seen a copy of the letter from Celtic with CEO Khumbulani Konco’s signature on it, and it reads as follows:
6 February 2019
RE: ABSENT FROM WORK/TRAINING
Dear Mr Wandisile Letlabika
The team manager (Mr William Mothokoa) has reported that you missed training or failed to arrive for duty today (6th February 2019) as per the team programme. Upon investigation from the team manager, it’s believed that you deliberately missed training because of unpaid fees which happened to be paid and good standing.
We therefore inform you that missing training you are in breach of your contract. Please report to training tomorrow the 7th February 2019 or the club will take further disciplinary measures.
Please note one of the measures you will be suspended with no pay or fine as per your players hand book.
Konco has been contacted by the Siya crew for a right of reply, however, the reply was yet to be received from the club’s CEO at the time of publishing.
Letlabika has been linked with exit from Celtic, with indication that his contract with the club is due to expire in June.
Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with the former Mamelodi Sundowns player, as reported by the Siya crew.
Meanwhile, Celtic seem to be already planning for life after Letlabika, after the club signed Mzwanele Mahashe this past week. The 30-year-old defender has been without a club, since he parted ways with Baroka FC at the end of last season.
With Celtic currently in Limpopo for today's league match with Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, it remains to be seen if Letlabika will feature for Siwelele this afternoon.
