There’s a boot camp at one of the Premier Soccer League clubs ahead of the anticipated sale of the club ahead of next season.

With Highlands Park now sold to Tim Sukazi, who will rename the club TS Galaxy and have their home games hosted in Mpumalanga, it’s thought the technical team must now make a decision on which players to keep.

And to do that the coach, reported to be Dan Malesela and his assistant Ashely Makhanya, will put the squad through their paces to determine their futures.

Indications are that Owen Da Gama, despite having a year left on his contract, will move on – with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila having already made contact.

His assistant Allan Freese was last week unveiled as the AmaZulu second in command to Ayanda Dlamini, who was also handed the Usuthu job permanently.

Siya sources have suggested this boot camp is similar to being on trial with players expected to prove their worth, especially those that will soon be out of contract.

The short training camp is believed to have started on Tuesday, a day after the players met with the new owner for an “official” handover.

For the players who still have running contracts, their terms remain valid because the club, it is understood, was sold as a going concern.

But should the new owners and the technical team feel some of them are surplus to requirements, then a pay-out must be agreed on and the players given their clearances to look for greener pastures.

Peter Shalulile and Mothobi Mvala have already been sold for a figure believed to be in the region of R16-million to Mamelodi Sundowns.
