Reports coming out of Egypt suggest that Al Ahly are looking for a new assistant coach and Pitso Mosimane has since responded to these reports.

As reported by the Siya crew, Cavin Johnson has vacated his post at Al Ahly, amid speculation that he could be set for a return to the DStv Premiership.

This was confirmed by former Al Ahly keeper-turned-pundit, Ahmed Shobier who revealed that the Red Eagles had ‘several options’ in mind to replace the 62-year-old.

Now, Mosimane himself has come out to dismiss reports that he has once again targeted Mamelodi Sundowns’ co-coach, Rulani Mokwena. The 56-year-old took to Twitter to slam reports that he is keen on reuniting with the young coach, stating that such reports could damage relationships between the two clubs.

“This time around your reliable sources threw you out. I normally don’t respond to weak stories like these, but you are really compromising everybody (clubs and coaches) here. Please let’s try and remain decent at times and avoid creating unnecessary tensions with fake news,” Mosimane tweeted.

Mosimane was keen on bringing the highly-rated coach on board when he left the Brazilians to take up the Ahly job in September last year, however, the Siya crew reported that Mokwena had opted to stay with the Chloorkop-based outfit.

It now remains to be seen who will become Mosimane's assistant coach to replace Johnson, who, as reported by the Siya crew, is closing in on a move to either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs.
