Danish giants FC Copenhagen are clamping down on Bafana Bafana star Luther Singh, after his big-money move.

Singh has largely underwhelmed in Denmark since making his high-profile switch from SC Braga in August last year for a fee understood to be in the region of R26 million.

So far, the 24-year-old has played just 64 minutes in total for the Danish outfit amid a number of deterrents including a mystery illness that saw the Stars of Africa Academy product hospitalized last year, as well as a passport issue that saw him turn up to the club’s training base seven days later than the rest of his teammates.

However, despite his tentative start at the club, their sporting Director Peter Christiansen who was instrumental in Singh’s signing has maintained his faith in the attacker and is hoping for a turnaround in fortunes at the club.

“No, I do not want to say that [he has been a bad signing], but it is clear that the whole process has not been optimal. He came untrained and rooted in the papers, but that's how it is, and now it's up to him to prove why he also wanted to join the club,” Christiansen told Tipsbladet.

In addition, the club have placed Singh on a rigorous training regime, although his chances of returning to coach Jess Thorup’s side remain relatively slim at this stage.

“He has been given an individual program where we have a physical trainer on him. He is well under way with the rehabilitation, but when he will be included in the squad training is hard for me to say,” Thorup said.

“He is here more or less daily, so in that sense he is a regular part of it now, but he is not on the training ground. We must accept that he has been out so long that we must take it step by step. Right now he is running around lakes, is in the gym and so on. When he's ready, we'll see him on the pitch - hopefully soon,” He added.
