Zungu’s A Wanted Man! Portuguese Giants Watch On
Bongani Zungu Is Attracting Interest From Elsewhere In Europe
Bongani Zungu’s stature in Europe seems to be rising with every passing week and some of the big boys are now looking at potentially trying to bring him on board.
After a tough start to life in Portugal following his move from Mamelodi Sundowns, Zungu has now managed to force his way into Vitoria de Guimaraes’ first team and is performing regularly as they push for the Taca de Portugal trophy and a spot in the UEFA Europa League.
Zungu’s efforts on the field have not gone unnoticed and the multiple Man of the Match winner has now triggered interest from several parts of Europe, including Portugal, Germany and England – although a move to the latter would always be difficult because of the strict work permit rules.
According to Siya sources, both Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal have shown an interest in trying to bring the 24-year-old on board in the next transfer window, with the South African having impressed during his time so far.
As reported by the Siya crew recently, Guimaraes are eager to tie down the midfield man before the season ends, despite having more than a year left on his contract, although at this stage nothing has been signed.
The crew will continue to keep tabs on Zungu’s situation in the coming weeks, however, for now, he will be focused on Guimaraes and repaying the faith that the club showed in him by bringing him to the club last year.
