Bafana Bafana’s Thulani Serero has earned individual praise for his performances in Holland this season, with the Eredivisie themselves handing him plaudits for his efforts.

Serero played 31 league games for Vitesse Arnhem this season as he made the defensive midfield position his own under Leonid Slutsky, playing a vital role as they went on to finish fifth and qualify for the domestic UEFA Europa League play-offs.
Now, prior to facing Groningen in that first play-off encounter, the league have named a 20-man Team of the Season based on stats from OPTA, with the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder making it onto the bench among the best players in the league.

The news is just the latest Bafana boost in what has been a solid year for South African footballers abroad, with the likes of Percy Tau, Lebo Mothiba and Lars Veldwijk all either winning or being nominated for awards in recent weeks.
Serero’s 2018/19 campaign in numbers -
Games: 31
Minutes: 2706
Assists: 2
Passes: 1610
Key passes: 23
Pass success: 89.3%
Successful tackles: 52
Interceptions: 62
On top of that, only 11 players in the entire league made more accurate short passes than he did as he maintained his place in the heart of Vitesse’s midfield, and he will be hoping to carry that form into Holland’s UEL qualifiers.

I hope people now understand why Serero underperform at Bafana Bafana. He is not a winger on no10 anymore but defensive or deep lying midfielder.

Baxter is an issue here he can't utilize skillful players like Serero;May Mahlangu;Kermit Erasmus and Lorch in his defensive approach.

That is good news for Bafana if Baxter can again call him i think we have a good chance of going all the way to the final by the quality we have Mr Baxter will have headache on who will play so the competition will be high thats what we expected
