Percy Tau has alluded to the fact that he may well be back in Belgium next season after a successful campaign on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League.

Tau joined the Seagulls last year in a big-money move from Mamelodi Sundowns, but work permit difficulties meant that he was sent out on loan to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise – a Belgian second tier club owned by the same man that owns Brighton, Tony Bloom.

The Bafana Bafana star had a bit of an injury scare over the weekend after he limped off for RUSG after scoring a brace against Royal Excel Mouscron, and he is now waiting to see the results of the tests on his knee to see if his African Cup of Nations place is under threat.

Meanwhile, there’s lots of talk about his future as his loan period with Saint-Gilloise comes to an end in a few weeks, but it appears that the player himself would not be against returning there next season as they look to try and win themselves promotion from the Proximus League into the top flight.

When asked about his future after his brace at the weekend, the 25-year-old reportedly replied, “I do not know yet, I do not think about it, I want to finish the season first. If I'd like to stay? Yes, it's a big club.”

Chris Hughton, the man in charge at Brighton when Tau was signed last year, was sacked this week following a tough campaign in the EPL, and whoever comes in to replace him may have some say on what happens to one of South Africa’s brightest stars for the 2019/20 season.
