Orlando Pirates could still land their reported target from Burkina Faso, according to reports from Ghana.

In recent weeks, reports have emerged that the Buccaneers have been interested in striker Songne Yacouba, who is currently contracted to Asante Kotoko in Ghana.

Although there has been no official confirmation from the Soweto giants regarding the reported interest, while their Ghanaian counterparts have reportedly been reluctant to sell the highly-rated forward, the player’s representative has refuted that that the 27-year-old has extended his contract with Kotoko, this according to media reports in Ghana.

“It is never true that Yacouba has agreed to extend contract with Kotoko. He has one more year with the club and has agreed to honour that. Kotoko has helped Yacouba and the player too has helped the team so there is no way he would force his way out of the club,” said the player’s agent Gyasi Gyantua to the media in Ghana.

With only one year remaining on the player’s deal, Bucs may have to wait a little longer before they could land the Burkinabe, if the club will still be interested in signing him to increase the team’s chances of scoring more goals in the future.

The Buccaneers would have to convince the player and his camp not to extend his deal with the Ghana outfit, and to reject any of his other offers, for a chance to make a move to Gauteng on a free at a later stage, or the PSL giants might have to negotiate a transfer fee with Kotoko for the sale of the player.

Thembinkosi Lorch finished the 2018/19 season as the top goalscorer for coach Milutin Sredojevic’s side with 15 strikes in all competitions.

To be fair Pierats have good squad, the only department that their need to beef up is goalkeeping Department by signing Thela Ngoveni and release one of the goalie.

Even if Pirates could bring a Top European striker it will remain trophyless. Shonga was announced a top striker, Takesure Thisanyama was announced a top striker, they all broght misery and no trophies at the end
