Orlando Pirates are closing in on another signing in preparation of the 2019/20 season, with a former South African youth international expected to complete a move to the club.

In edition 1117 of Soccer Laduma, it was revealed that Pirates have been interested in Pule Maraisane, who has been plying his trade overseas.

At the time, the Siya crew reported that the Buccaneers had been joined in their interest in the player by Cape Town City, as confirmed by sources in the know.

News reaching the Siya crew is that Bucs have upped their interest in the 24-year-old midfielder, who can also play as a winger or a secondary striker, with indications that a potential move for him to the Soweto giants in this transfer window is as good as done.

Maraisane has been playing for Cerkezköy 1911 in Turkey, and is a product of the renowned Stars of Africa Football Academy, under Farouk Khan.

“Pule Maraisane is on his way to Pirates. His move to the club has been agreed to by all those involved and it’s just a matter of time before the club confirms it,” said the source.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma in April, when the Siya crew broke the news of his interest by Pirates and City, Maraisane confirmed that he had been interested in playing in the PSL.

“I can’t rule out a possibility of a return to South Africa, as I previously had offers from Cape Town City and Pirates. That was last year. But, at the time, I had already signed a contract in Turkey. The two clubs had been in contact with my agent. Sometimes being away from your family can be difficult. I may consider coming back home in the future,” said the former SA U20 star at the time.

As reported, the Buccaneers are expected to have the likes of Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu from Maritzburg United, as well as the Bloemfontein Celtic duo of Kabelo Dlamini and Bongani Sam joining coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team for the new season.
