Orlando Pirates’ sale of Marshall Munetsi to Stade de Reims in France came about after the Ligue 1 outfit identified him as a player that corresponded to a ‘rare profile’.

The 22-year-old’s move to the French top-flight was confirmed on Tuesday after the clubs agreed terms – terms that are as yet unknown – for the versatile defensive midfielder’s transfer, with Munetsi jetting out to France to finalise the paperwork.

Now, as the former Baroka loanee looks to take the next step in his career, his new employers have given some insight as to why they brought him on board from the Buccaneers to help them at their club in the north of France.

Reims’ director general, Mathieu Lacour, believes that the Zimbabwean will be a good addition to his side in the long-term, quickly pointing out that he has been signed for the future of the club.

Translated from the club’s official website, Lacour said, "The recruitment of Marshall Munetsi is part of a logic of the future… He is a referenced player in Africa who has climbed the ladder one after the other and displays good experience at his age with high level matches in the CAF Champions League. The AFCON, which he will take part at the end of the month, will also gain him in experience.

“Marshall has a great versatility since he can evolve at different positions in the middle of the field. His characteristics, in particular, his athletic density and his volume of play, correspond to a rare profile which was checked by the staff.

“The idea, at first, will be to accompany the player in the discovery of European and French football so that it gives full term its full potential at the Stade de Reims.”

Munetsi penned a four-year deal with SdR.

@Hustle_midiwane But the guy is just pointing out that both players will not taste any international club football outside Africa. I don't see moth ng wrong for pointing that fact out.
