A Chippa United midfielder has revealed his plans in preparation for the side's upcoming match against Orlando Pirates.

With both Pirates and Chippa struggling to achieve consistent results this season, the Buccaneers are preparing to host the Chilli Boys at the Orlando Stadium in their next match this coming Saturday.

In-form midfielder Meshack Maphangule, who is on loan at Chippa from Pirates, says he will have no point to prove in their match against the Soweto giants.

“I don’t have any point to prove because playing football is my thing. It won’t be like it’s my first time playing against my former team. All I want it to play and work hard for the team I play for right now,” Maphangule told the Siya crew.

Having started all four matches played by Chippa so far this season, the 28-year-old has given credit to the club’s head coach Clinton Larsen for his progress.

The central midfielder, who scored the Port Elizabeth team’s goal in their 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns last month, has revealed how he plans to help his teammates as they aim to upset the Buccaneers.

“I am a player who likes to play all the time. I like to see myself playing in each and every game. I wasn’t getting that at Pirates and here (Chippa) I am getting a chance to play,” he said.

“Yes, I will tell some of my teammates about Pirates players’ strengths and stuff (weaknesses), but I don’t think there is much that I need to tell them about the opponents because they also know them. Some of my current teammates have played with Pirates players before. The coach has done his job by analysing their (Pirates’) games and is helping us to prepare. We will know how to approach the game and to play for us to win,” concluded Maphangule.
