Ahead of the launch of his club in the MLS, owner David Beckham has reportedly contacted FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi about a sensational transfer after it was revealed the Argentine can leave the Catalan club whenever he wants.

Reports: Messi Considering Shock Barca Exit

Many were surprised recently when it came out that the 32-year-old has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the Blaugrana at the end of every season.

A follow-up report from Mundo Deportivo claimed that Messi is actually toying with the idea of moving on at the end of the 2019/20 season, despite the player often insisting he is happy in the city of Barcelona.

It was said that he is considering a switch to the MLS, which ties into the latest from Catalunya Radio, that Inter Miami owner Beckham has reached out to Messi.

However, it has also been stated that while the Argentine does find the prospect of playing in the US interesting, the new club would simply not be able to afford his services.

Having addressed his future many times in the past, Messi has always maintained that if he were to leave Barca, it would most likely be for a move back home to Argentina.

The forward joined the Blaugrana as an 11-year-old, and has since made 687 appearances for the club's senior side, scoring 603 goals and assisting a further 242 strikes.

@dbain, and again I said in terms of PRESTIGE, if you can read...I didn't say in terms of how one has one time or so in history been lucky enough to win against the best club in the world. So according to you the fact that Ajax beat Madrid last season means Ajax are now suddenly a greater and superior club than Real?

@dbain, you boys are slow upstairs...if TS Galaxy beat Chiefs or Sundowns or Pirates are TS suddenly to be considered a stronger team than them? Don't be stupid, any team can beat any team on its day especially in a knockout game. How many times do you think Liverpool or Chelsea will beat Barcelona or Real Madrid if they were to play the best of 5 or 10 games? That is how you measure an inferior versus a superior product...not on once off, once in a blue moon event. OK children?
