Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a sensational return to one of his former clubs.

Report: Ronaldo Changes His Mind On Man Utd Future

Although he still has a contract in England until 2023, it seems there is still plenty of speculation surrounding the 37-year-old's future at Carrington.

According to Spanish publication Sport, super-agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly attempting to broker a return to Juventus for his client ahead of next season.

Despite Erik ten Hag having said he is looking forward to working with Ronaldo in the Premier League, Mendes is said to have "proposed" that the Portugal captain heads back to Turin.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, however, would need to take a significant pay cut to return to the Italian giants, for whom he scored 101 goals in 134 matches between 2018 and 2021.

His exit from the Bianconeri came late in the transfer window ahead of this past season, a decision that was said to leave Juve's chiefs disappointed, particularly as they felt there was little time to bring in a replacement.

Striker Dusan Vlahovic has since joined the Old Lady after completing a switch to the club in January from Fiorentina, although Alvaro Morata will return to his parent club Atletico Madrid following his loan spell with the Serie A team.

The report claims that despite Mendes' interest in taking Ronaldo back to Juve, the Italian club's current priority is currently on securing Paul Pogba's services as a free-agent signing.

Should he remain in England next season, the former Real Madrid and Sporting Lisbon forward will be without UEFA Champions League football for the first time in two decades.

Here is where Ronaldo ranked among United's highest-paid players last season:
