With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relieved of his duties this past Sunday, all eyes were on the Red Devils on Tuesday night to see what the team would produce against Unai Emery's Yellow Submarine.

A frustrating first half ended with United not enjoying too much of the ball as Villarreal looked to add to the English giants' woes. Their efforts, though, were thwarted by an in-form David de Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper kept the struggling Premier League side in the game with some acrobatic saves, but it was not until the introduction of Bruno Fernandes in the 66th minute that United began to create chances of their own.

Eventually, the pressure from the away side led to an error from Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, whose risky pass into midfield allowed Fred the opportunity to win the ball back for United before Ronaldo pounced.

The 36-year-old calmly lobbed the former Manchester City shot-stopper to put United ahead, becoming the first player representing an English side to score in five consecutive Champions League matches.

England international Jadon Sancho then scored his first goal for the Red Devils since his big-money arrival at the start of the season with a thunderous effort in stoppage time to ensure all three points for his side.

Ronaldo Accused Of Messing Up Solskjaer's Plans

The result saw United cement themselves a place in the last 16, although second place in Group F is still up for grabs.

@Line's Man... you guys you keep bringing messi but the only thing that beat Ronaldo with is balondor which biased voted by particular people who choose to love what they first fell in love with. Lowendoski deserved it last year and it was obvious he won because though the covid19 but game were all resumed. Just because messi was not gonna win it everything changed, this year media want to preach messi by force but messi is nowhere to found trying hard but there's milestone he need to remove to beat Lowendoski or Ronaldo

Messi is the master of football but we can't just ignore the fact that CR7 is also one of the best strikers ever lived in our planet. Let's just salute him, congratulate him and celebrate his achievements.
