Gaston Sirino has been in South Africa’s top flight for just over two years, but he’s already established himself as one of the top talents in Mzansi football.

Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed this morning that the 29-year-old Uruguayan put pen to paper on a new five-year deal, which will see him remain at the club until, at least, his 34th birthday.

But how has the playmaker’s market value increased since he touched down in Mzansi?

Sirino joined the Brazilians from Bolivian outfit, Bolívar La Paz, where, according to the figures on, his market value rose to €450 000 (±R8.72m) during his first few months on the books of the Brazilians.

After his first full season (2018/19) with Sundowns, where he made 28 domestic appearances and was influential in the Brazilians winning the Absa Premiership title, Sirino’s was valued at €750 000 (±R14.54m).

Sirino’s market value was at its highest this season, where in February this year he moved to €850 000 (±R16.48m).

However, in April, due to the suspension of football all around the world, players saw a big drop in their market value and the 29-year-old’s value decreased to €675 000 (±R13m).

Although, with football set to resume in the next few weeks and Sirino currently in top form for Sundowns this season, the player could see a big rise in his value once more, as he remains in the top 10 of the most expensive players at the Chloorkop-based club.

Gastin Sirino is always the smallest player in the field, but once he gets the ball he becomes taller and unstoppable. I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed that.
