Khama Billiat has a message for the Kaizer Chiefs faithful going into this weekend’s Nedbank Cup final, saying that Saturday’s game is ‘the big one’ for the Glamour Boys.

Billiat’s first season with the Amakhosi hasn’t quite gone to plan as they finishing ninth in the Absa Premiership – their worst finish since 2006/07 – but there is a chance that he could still end the campaign with another medal for his collection if they’re able to beat TS Galaxy.

Chiefs go into the game as major favourites given the fact that Galaxy are a newly-formed National First Division outfit, although the Glamour Boys’ form in recent weeks will not have done much to boost their confidence, but will be keen to get back to winning ways after going 1470 days since lifting their last trophy.

Now, with the Zimbabwean superstar set to play a major role for the club in their final game of season, he says that their main aim is to give the Amakhosi faithful something to smile about – and not about securing the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament gong for himself.

Speaking to Chiefs’ official website this week, the 28-year-old said, “This is the big one… We don’t have to be reminded about the importance of this game. We need to close the season by putting smiles on our supporters’ faces. We need to give them what they deserve.

“I’m not really thinking about any individual awards because the team comes first. As long as the team wins, I will be very happy. Everyone will have to bring their best performance because the supporters deserve it.”

Chiefs and Galaxy face off at Moses Mabhida Stadium at 19h00 on Saturday night, with Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban playing host.
