Kaizer Chiefs have a few weeks left to make a tricky decision regarding their foreign spots, but how many players do they need to get rid of?

Check out details of Chiefs' foreign situation in the gallery above

As things stand, Kaizer Chiefs have nine players on their books that are not born in South Africa, although only seven of them need to be registered as a foreigner for the 2019/20 season.

The Premier Soccer League’s rules allow clubs to have five non-South Africans registered at any one time, however if the player receives permanent residence – like Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande – they can be registered as a local.

That leaves Leonardo Castro, Daniel Akpeyi, Arohasina Andrianarimanana, Teenage Hadebe as well as their three new signings – Lazarous Kambole, James Kotei and Samir Nurkovic – to battle it out for the five spots that are available to the Amakhosi. Kearyn Baccus, who came in from Australia, grew up outside Mzansi but was born in Durban.

With Kambole, Kotei and Nurkovic all set to be registered following their arrival, there are exits on the cards for the club’s other foreign players, though the decision on which two will be registered should become easier if/ when Hadebe secures a move to Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey.

That leaves Castro, Akpeyi and ‘Dax’ – all of whom still have very uncertain futures at the club – and there is even the possibility that (with Castro transfer-listed and Akpeyi likely to be third choice if Itumeleng Khune and Bruce Bvuma are fit) none of them may be at the club by the time the transfer window closes.

With Chiefs still in the market for more new signings ahead of the upcoming campaign, there could well be more changes to come at Naturena.

Which five foreign players do you think Chiefs should register this season?
