Ernst Middendorp thinks that other clubs in South Africa would be happy to be in Kaizer Chiefs’ shoes going into this weekend’s Nedbank Cup final.

The Glamour Boys go up against TS Galaxy on Saturday night as they look to end the season on a high after a very underwhelming Absa Premiership campaign, but they will be very wary of the potential banana skin that comes with facing a side from the National First Division in such a big game.
Chiefs last won the Nedbank back in 2013 with an extra time victory over SuperSport United in Stuart Baxter’s first campaign at the club, and Middendorp knows that they need to perform if they’re going to end the longest trophy drought in Amakhosi history.
Speaking in a video on the club’s official YouTube page, the German said, “We have the chance… I think a lot of other teams - bigger teams - would’ve been happy to have this option on Saturday to be playing this cup final. We are in, and it’s up to us.

“If a team is in a final, it doesn’t matter which league, then you must be aware that there’s a certain quality… It’s all about how we are handling it, and how we are committed going into it and being well prepared.”
But can they put that preparation into action? Middendorp thinks so, adding, “So far, in particular in these cup games, we have done it, we have really. Otherwise we would not be in this cup final, and that’s what we’re doing again.”
Chiefs and Galaxy will lock horns at 19h00 on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Tsho??.. is this guy for real?? Clearly he has no idea of the standard the team he's coaching needs to keep. We should be happy after finishing the season in the middle of the table, huffing and puffing our way through amateur teams to reach the nedbank cup final and he has the nerve to say we should be happy?? Usijwayela udodi yaz. This shows exactly kuthi basthatha kanjani labantu, nxa! You cannot give us such mediocre displays all season the come the end of it you say we should be grateful whilst we have nothing to show for it. Kudlalwa ngathi la. With such talk from a guy who's supposed to take the team to new heights, I know we have the wrong guy going foward. He should just be forced to go after the game, win or lose
