The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who has been studying Mechanical Engineering since 2014, is in the process of acquiring his degree as he looks to become one of the few South African footballers to push on for higher education aside from his ambitions on the field of play.

Petersen played a big role for Chiefs’ Multichoice Diski Challenge side during his time at Naturena, as well as breaking into the senior matchday squad on occasion, and will now be pushing to make his senior debut at some point this season.

The player’s agent, Modise Sefume, has told the Siya crew that after exams took precedent previously, he is now looking for the next chapter in his football career following June’s examinations.

Sefume told the crew, “We’re currently in the midst of our club search, contrary to popular belief, Brylon merely took time off to focus on his June exams.

“He has come through the paces with the Kaizer Chiefs MDC side during the preseason, and still trains regularly with the goalkeeper coach. Brylon is fit, ready and able to take up a new challenge.”

Petersen is one of the success stories of the Varsity Football competition having impressed at the tournament for Wits University.
