With Pep Guardiola having been away from Spain since 2014, a former FC Barcelona superstar believes the tactician could very well quit Manchester City and return to his homeland sooner than many expect.

10 Worst Signings Of The Season

The Spanish boss recently won the 25th trophy of his managerial career when the Citizens wrapped up a second successive Premier League title.

Guardiola has managed in Germany and England since leaving his country of birth in 2013, following a sabbatical after he stepped down as Barca boss a year before.

Speaking about what could be next for the 48-year-old, his ex-colleague Rivaldo feels the Catalan could return home soon to be with his family, despite his contract at City only expiring in 2021.

Casillas on Zidane

"I'm convinced that Pep will have new opportunities in the future, that there will be new projects for him," he said, according to Sport.

"I wouldn't rule out if he moved this summer. It's true that he seems happy at Man City, but maybe a good offer from Spain would be interesting.

"I say this because Pep doesn't like being far from his family and friends, he misses them.

"He has a nice time with them, and I think that, for the circumstances, nostalgia will decide his future. It could help him to leave."

@Nelinha1 no ways check again. This man is writing his own history. After Barca he went to Germany. He won the league and CCL. On his way to win that CCL he beat Barca 5 -0.People says Spain and Germany league are too easy to win he then take the challenge and come to England then promise to deliver the league and CCL.He won the league the CCL might not going to M City but is going to England. Every country he works in something is happening while he was in Spain the Spanish teams dominated the Europe he went to Germany the Germans won the world cup he is in England is the huge transformation
