Jurgen Klopp has shared his first words since the departure of Sadio Mane, whose transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich became official this week.

'Mane Will Ruin The Best Two Years Of His Career At Bayern'

The 30-year-old winger officially joined the German giants on Wednesday after it became clear he would be leaving the Reds ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Leaving Liverpool after 168 goal contributions in 269 appearances and having claimed every trophy possible, Mane is considered one of the club's all-time greats, a sentiment shared by his former manager.

Reacting to the forward's switch to the Bundesliga, Klopp has said he is grateful to the Senegal international for his six years of excellence, saying the ex-Southampton player made the Reds better since his first day on Merseyside.

"It's a big moment. There is no point in anyone trying to pretend otherwise," he told Liverpool's website.

"One of Liverpool's greatest ever players is leaving and we must acknowledge how significant this is.

"He leaves with our gratitude and our love. He leaves with his status among the greats guaranteed. And, yes, he leaves in a moment where he is one of the best players in world football.

"But we must not dwell on what we now lose, instead celebrate what we were privileged to have. The goals he scored, the trophies he won; a legend, for sure, but also a modern-day Liverpool icon.

"Since he first stepped through the door, he made us better. If someone had told us in that moment what he would go on to contribute and achieve for this club, I'm not sure it would have been possible to comprehend in that moment. Not the scale of it at least. Sadio made it all possible."

Mane scored an impressive 23 goals in his final campaign for Liverpool, his second-best tally after his 26-goal haul in the 2018/19 season.

Here is where Mane ranks among the 11 highest-paid players at Bayern:

@smo I just hope Mo Salah will be able to carry the team when needed the most, because with Egypt he failed when needed the most. Liverpool I am certain they will regret the decision of allowing Mane to go without any fight because he was their real fighter.
