DFB Pokal Final

Result: RB Leipzig 0-3 Bayern Munich

Date: 25 May 2019

Venue: Olympiastadion Berlin

Bayern Munich secured a domestic double with a 3-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the German Cup final at Olympiastadion on Saturday evening.

Serge Gnabry had the first chance of the game in the fifth minute when he made space for himself in the box but fired wide with his left foot.

Manuel Neuer then made a brilliant save to deny a Youssuf Poulsen close-range header from a corner in the 21st minute. Joshua Kimmich was next to come to Bayern's rescue when he made a perfectly-timed slide tackle to deny Timo Werner, who was set free down the inside left channel.

It was Bayern who took the lead, however, slightly against the run of play on the half-hour mark. The Bavarians overloaded the left flank. Kingsley Coman waited for support from David Alaba on the overlap and fed the Austrian. Alaba's cross left Robert Lewandowski with a lot of work to do. Jumping away from goal to reach the ball, he redirected it calmly past Peter Gulasci at his near post.

In the 42nd minute, Ibrahima Konate came to Leipzig's rescue. Mats Hummels sprung the offside trap, sending Kingsley Coman clean through. Koman rounded Gulasci and fired the ball goalwards, only for Konate to sprint back in front of goal and head the ball to safety.

Lewandowski nearly added a second in the 44th minute after build-up work from Thomas Müller and Gnabry. Moments later, from the ensuing short corner routine, Mats Hummels made contact with a low cross from Müller but Gulasci saved.

Neuer then made another top save in the 48th minute. Emil Forsberg was clean through on goal after a great ball from Konate. One heavy touch approaching the goal let the Swede down, with Neuer charging out and deflecting the ball first with his leg and then his arm, putting the ball behind for a corner.

Niklas Sule then cleared off the line from a Werner effort in the 57th minute. Five minutes later, Hummels was given too much space on the edge of the box and let fly with a long-range effort, but Gulasci saved. Seconds later, Gulasci was in action again, deflecting a cross from the right into the path of Gnabry, who headed off target from close range.

Coman doubled the lead in the 78th minute. Kimmich's cross took a big deflection and Koman reacted first to the loose ball. His first touch both brought the ball under control and took the last man out of the equation, before he finished emphatically with his left foot.

Bayern killed the game off in the 85th minute. Dayot Upamecano made a hash of dealing with a long Bayern clearance and Lewandowski pounced, winning the ball and racing clear. Lewansdowski waited and watched Gulasci as he approached goal, picking his moment to lift the ball over the onrushing goalie with his weaker left foot and in to the back of the net.

Bundesliga is one-team show, no team matches The Bavarians, it's like in Italy and French League respectively where Juventus and PSG have no competition at all.
