All four of the top-earning coaches at this year's Africa Cup of Nations have already been knocked out of the tournament. Here is an overview of the highest-paid bosses at the tournament.

Click through the gallery above to see the 10 highest-paid coaches, and what they earn per month, at Afcon 2019.

According to a report by Gini Afric, which was picked up by Moroccan website Maghrib Foot, former Egypt boss Javier Aguirre was highest-paid coach at the tournament after receiving a reported monthly salary of €108 000 (R1.7 million), before he was sacked after the hosts' defeat to South Africa.

Cameroon's Clarence Seedorf sits in second position with a suggested monthly income of €96 000 (R1.5 million), while Morocco's Herve Renard completes the top three with €80 000 (R1.26 million).

Moroccan newspaper Al Massae, though, believe the Frenchman was, in fact, the top-earning coach at Afcon, receiving €120 000 (R1.89 million). It has also been claimed that his assistant Patrice Beaumelle earns €55 000 (R864 000) a month, which would see him sit in fifth position on the list.

Algeria's Djamel Belmadi, who is believed to receive €50 000 (R786 000) a month, and Nigeria's Gernot Rohr (€49 700, R781 000) follow in fourth and fifth places.

Stuart Baxter sits in sixth spot on the list, with local media claiming he receives about R490 000 (€31 000) monthly, which is much less than what his predecessors Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba and Pitso Mosimane received.

South Africa were knocked out by Nigeria last Wednesday after conceding a last-minute goal by defender William Troost-Ekong, which sent Bafana home with a 2-1 defeat.

This was only the third time since 2000 that the national team had reached the quarter-finals of the African showpiece, with Bafana ending the tournament with two wins – more than in their previous six Afcon tournaments – and three defeats.

It is interesting to note that only three of the 10 highest-paid coaches at the continental spectacle are still left in the competition – you can find the complete top 10 in the gallery above!

Note: It is unclear whether or not the amounts given by Gini Afric are just basic salaries, or salaries including bonus payments.

Which coach do you think has underachieved the most in comparison to his salary? Have your say in the comments section below.

@Nkundka ka manyovu Kluivert has never coached Barcelona, so the reference of Barcelona for Bafana coaching job is misplaced. If the "Barcelona thing" referred to here is the Tiki-Taka, then look back to the Johan Cruyff coaching stint at Barca. In fact the only National Coaching responsibility he has ever held was as part of the Coaching Staff under Netherlands (about 3 years) and then Curaçao for less than 3 years and his success there is qualifying for Carribean Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup both in 2017. Haayi, not material for Mzansi which is also struggling!

I applaud Mr Patrice Motsepe for believing in Pitso Mosimane and he delivered great silverware. My chiefs and even Pirates should follow in the same foot steps. Yes Steve was highly qualified but still Pitso was the best coach having won many trophies with Super Sport United.he did just to Sundowns and Steve won nothing with any of his previous teams and did justice by winning nothing with Kaizer Chiefs. Still Dan Malesela is a winner and less qualified than Steve... let us go for our local winners they can do the job.
