Perspective: How TWO draws cost Pirates the League Title!!

In 2017/18 (the building season) Pirates finished on 55 points, 15 wins, 5 losses and 10 drawings.. with a goal difference of 15. We finished second, 5 points adrift of the winners. In 2018/19 (the delivery season) Pirates finished on 57 points (2 points improvement from the previous season), 15 wins (no improvement) , 3 losses ( an improvement from the previous season), 12 draws ( problem! we added two more draws from the the previous season. The two games reduction in losses was actually added into draws)... Pirates finished with a magnificent goal difference of 20 (a improvement from previous season by 5).

Lol every game determine how you will fare in the league, losing and draws..reality is your team remain cupless yet again, nothing achieved totally with the building that was done last season

@hosherr Sometimes saying nothing saves a lot of energy! Herein I'm analyzing ORLANDO PIRATES, comparing two seasons performances of ORLANDO PIRATES. Out of nowhere, you fall off your broom and start twerking all over my post.

@His Excellency_zmvuyo The likes of CT City have jumped from having scored 26 goals last season to a whooping 47 and now leading in terms of goals scored...Wits (from 27-45),Celtics (from 25-35)..I could mention others as well (the one's sane bloggers would be thinking aaaaahhhh the finishing coach worked...Not the 3 goals u making noise about here

Every team starts a game on a draw( 1 point)...Some teams do feel that they should have won certain games and yet it was not to be ,because football is played over 90 mins and by both teams(not 1 team as u would like to make us beleive)....E.G Sundowns should have won against Celtic and got 2 more points, that gives u 61..should have won against Chiefs in opening game as we scored early but failed to manage the game, add 2 more points(63),should have won at home and away against Wits as we led both those games(65,67)..We should not have lost against CT City after taking that early lead(70)..We should also have beaten Pirates in our home and away game(72,74)....I could go ON and ON....Infact we should not have lost any PSL game as I felt no opponent was completely dominating us ..In SUMMARY ...NO POST HERE

For next season, Pirates must reduce the number of draws to below 10 and add at least 3 more wins. With 19 wins, 8 draws (maximum) and a minimum of 3 losses, that's a whole 65 points (I know I'm being a little overambitious) we wold definitely be league champions !! It is possible if we keep the same momentum that we ended with.

04/05/19 (2-2) VS Cape Town City... In a must win game, a potential league decider! Our defenders blundered and played a careless short passing game at the back, lost the ball and we conceded a goal within 30 seconds from the start. Who does that? That put us on the back foot from the word go! We managed to come back and leveled matters up. Early in the second half we were leading. 10 minutes before full-time we were in the lead; what does our technical team do to consolidate and secure the win? They make a silly substitution, they introduce a ball player (Mlambo) who has been out of action for a while to "retain possession". We conceded a goal on the 83rd minute and that was it, league title chase out of our own hands!

Let's consider one notable draw: 19/09/18 (2-2) VS Cape Town City... Pirates scored two goals in the opening twenty minutes (Maela 16' , Mulenga 20'). We allowed CT FC to come back in the second half, they scored 2 goals in the 69th and 77th minute through Ayanda Patosi. This game should have been wrapped-up in the first half!! We had no business in failing to collect maximum points here. Lack of discipline!!
